Painting Class - Japanese Art
Saturday 25 June, 2-4pm
- 20 British pounds£20
- SE12 Art Studio
In this class we will look at the work of Katsushika Hokusai (1760 -1849). Hokusai, was a Japanese artist, printmaker, and painter of the Edo period. Although Hokusai is most renowned for his wood block prints, he was a master at drawing as well, producing a manual 'Quick Lessons in Simplified Drawings’. In this session we look at the ancient Japanese art form of ink and brush drawing (Sumi-e) and have a go at creating the brush strokes ourselves to create a watercolour and ink painting.
